We hope this message finds you, your family, and friends well and that you’re staying healthy and safe during these unprecedented times.
We want to update you on the current status of this the 37th year of Halloween New Orleans. As you all know, times have changed and our current normal is a great deal different than before COVID-19 invited itself into our lives. Some of you, as well as some of us, have experienced what the virus can do first hand. For those of you who have lost a loved one, our thoughts are with you.
In any other year, we would have had a series of Host Parties to start our fundraising, while placing deposits to secure venues, DJs, etc. However, because of the restrictions put in place in late March, none of that has been possible.
As summer winds down and we look to the fall, we don’t know what the world will look like on October 31st, nor do we know what if any restrictions may be in place. For that reason and many others, the Board has decided to cancel the weekend’s events for the safety of everyone. As sad as this makes us all, HNO37 simply cannot take place this year on the scale that we would like. Many hours were spent by members of the Board, anguishing over this decision. We considered every opportunity to still safely and responsibly hold the Main Event. However, science and common sense demand a rethinking for this year.
While we are working on ways to raise money for Project Lazarus this year, we want to express our MANY thanks to our Patrons and Sponsors, as well as our yearly hosts. We will be back next year, of course. Until then, there are other ways for you to support Project Lazarus, as well as Halloween New Orleans. You can participate in Project Lazarus’ upcoming “Bon Appetit” event by hosting a virtual or small in-person fundraising event, and then receiving a home delivery of dessert and champagne to celebrate your support (click here to learn more). You can also support HNO when shopping on Amazon by designating “Halloween New Orleans” as your beneficiary through Amazon Smile.
Every little bit helps as we continue to support Project Lazarus by raising awareness and funds for its mission.
